ABOUT THE COOPERATIVE SOCIETY

Built on the belief that we grow further together.

Founded by nineteen farmers and traders pooling a first collective fund, The Cooperative Society has grown into a member-owned institution spanning agriculture, enterprise, education and welfare — while holding on to the same founding discipline.

Six principles guide every decision.

Collective Responsibility

Every member's discipline strengthens the fund that supports the whole cooperative.

Transparent Records

Savings, lending and project spending are reported to members every quarter.

Disciplined Saving

Structured plans build habits that compound into meaningful outcomes over time.

Responsible Borrowing

Loans are sized and paced to what a member's history and repayment capacity support.

Shared Opportunity

Projects are chosen by members, for members, prioritising the widest collective benefit.

Community Development

Growth is measured not only in savings, but in schools, water points and shared tools.
